Hip Hop Elements is reporting that future USC basketball player and child-rapper sensation, Romeo Miller a.k.a. Lil’ Romeo, will miss the rest of the Beverly Hills High School basketball season due to injury. Miller, who was awarded a full scholarship to USC, will rest the injury the remainder of the year in preparation for the Trojans.
There are those who doubt Romeo’s ability, claiming his scholarship is due to his star-power and not his game. While there may be some truth to that, you can decide for yourself by watching Romeo’s highlight video on USChoops.tv.

This scholarship shows what poor judgment our esteemed coach has.
While I am sensitive to the difficulties that must be present in trying to lift the program, he’s screwed up by giving him a scholarship over more deserving players.
Lute Olsen has said no to one and outs because of their obviously destructive influence on the team. It’s even worse when they drag along a cohort of undeserving players. His celebrity only makes it worse.
A coach can only borrow against the future so much. And in taking short cuts to attempt to launch USC as a premier destination for top players, USC basketball will be much the worse for these decisions two or three years down the line.

That Coach Floyd gave him a scholarship to raise the esteem of the school for immediate-term recruits was a rational and smart decision. Long-term, however, his choice will hurt the school and the program to some degree. While it very well could be the tipping point in the Tim Floyd-OJ-train to DeRozan to USC’s emergence as a top-bball program and USC irrevocably on the map for future recruits may also be the case, you cannot help but think that throwing around scholarships creates some kind of reputational harm to the program.
Cuz look – what a waste. No one is fooled here. The kid cannot play D1 hoops. In fact, in most cases that I’ve heard of –i.e. two– a middling player on a bad Beverly High team probably is questionable for D3 hoops as well.
So where is the line? Should they next recruit Flea, who I understand is now studying at USC, to be the next scholarship recruit? Okay, he probably doesn’t have much sway over the young men the program will be hunting next year. But the point should be clear. Should they start offering the hottest Song Girls basketball scholarships too? Or maybe a languorous, stoned-ass Snoop Dogg?

You know whats sad? when the only positive feedback that you get is “fuck the haters, just do you.” Well thats tough when you arent a D1 basketball talent yet make a D1 squad. Romeo was a great rapper and i cant hate on him. But as a basketball player who has played with guys like, Salim Stoudamire(atlanta hawks),Kevin Love(Minnesota tmberwoles) and Kyle Singler(Duke) who have all been player of the state canidates, i think i can tell you that Romeo is nothing more then a much much less talented muggsy bouges. Fast as hell, making pick and roll and bck door passes that a well trained 8th grader could make, and a jump shot that can only be showcased against groups of JV wannabes. But look at the bright side at least you already have more a more promising then your dad did, whos CBA stint with the Fort Wayne Fury will be out matched by your few games played at USC. Also if this doesnt pan out im sure that No Limit will resale a greatest hits album for Lil Romeo.

There is a book called the “Dumbest Generation.” It states that technology is actually hurting young people. Kids don’t know how to speak or write in complete sentences. They don’t read literature anymore. In short, their chances at succeeding in jobs that pay more than minimum wage diminish with each passing day. In reading these posts I realize the book speaks the truth. You guys are not the future of this country. You are the folks that the future of this country hires for domestic work, landscaping, and clearing away dishes after a good meal. I can see that most who have posted here have no real chance at a good future. This is your own fault. It has nothing to do with skin color. It has to do with ignorance and the desire to remain mediocre. I wish you guys the best of luck, because you are going to need it. You are killing your own culture. You have no own else to blame but yourself. The worst part is that you don’t even know you are doing this to yourselves.
